Obon, July or August
Obon Service - July 9
Bon Odori (Dance) - July 8
Obon is an annual event to commemorate our ancestors.
It is a time of gratitude, giving, and joy.
Traditionally, lanterns are hung in front of houses, obon dances (bon odori) are performed, and food offerings are made at house altars and temples.
Obon is also an occasion to rejoice in the awakening offered by the Buddha, and is also referred to as Kangi-e "Gathering of Joy".
